December – Ba Humbug
The holiday season is a tough one to maneuver when you’re trying to watch what you eat. My saving grace has been the xbike classes and working out with Kate.
Her latest trick is to have me do everything for a full minute. No more of this 12 or 14 rep stuff.
And a minute can seem [...]

Yikes – Another Weigh In
Boy do weigh ins produce anxiety. Especially after the month I’ve had. Nothing like stepping on a scale during the holiday season. Frankly I probably prefer gum surgery. But then….the anxiety drops. The results were better than I thought they’d be. Kate really gives me terrific
guidance on managing expectations. And how to read the results [...]

Survived Thanksgiving (I think)
The holidays are always a challenge. Too much food, too many parties. And then you throw travel into the mix. It’s challenging at best. And this year I decided to go to London to spend time with family. Had a wonderful time. But I truly tried to be mindful of what I was eating most [...]

First Weigh In
Normally when I go on a new diet/training routine I weigh myself at least once a week.
This is a whole new ballgame waiting an entire month to weigh in. It was hard managing my expectations. I knew I hadn’t lost a lot of weight, but I was pretty sure I had lost inches.
The workouts have [...]

Week Four – What a Difference
I don’t want to say this new intense training has become 2nd nature just yet. But I will say it’s certainly a more natural part of my daily routine now.
Met with Kate Monday night – still can’t believe I’m working out after work. That is progress for me. She had a different plan for me. [...]

XBike – Really?
After 3 hard days of training I kinda thought I might take Thursday off. My body was pretty tired. So I get up Thursday…thinking this is my rest day…but the funniest thing happened. I showed up at Matrix for the XBike class at 6am. I figured what the heck. I hadn’t done that class and I [...]

November Already?
This has been a serious workout week so far. Had a rigorous training session with Kate on Monday. Followed that up with her bootcamp on Tuesday night. And as if that wasn’t enough I had another session with Kate this morning. Talk about a sense of accomplishment. Three very hard workouts, back to back to back…phew. [...]

Halloween Weekend – Spooky
Had a great training session with Kate on Friday.
We spent 30 minutes in the yoga room. Little did I know it would be a torture chamber. Okay I’m embellishing a bit. That equipment may look harmless but it’s extremely torturous when used it certain ways. I’m really bugged that my balance isn’t very good. I’m having a love/hate relationship [...]

First Bootcamp
I did my first bootcamp last night. And yeah – it was really really hard. In addition to being out of breath most of the time my balance just sucks. Working on that bosu (sp?) half ball is just cruel. I’m really hoping I see improvement with my balance. And I love it when we [...]
